Staff Software Engineer - Observability

Experteer Overview As a Staff Software Engineer on the Platform Observability team, you shape how telemetry data is collected, processed, and acted upon across a highly distributed platform. You lead strategies for logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting, and you drive reliability and performance improvements in the observability stack. You mentor engineers, collaborate with SRE and development teams, and tackle bottlenecks to reduce MTTR and alert fatigue. Pay / Benefits * Define and lead Logging, Metrics, Tracing & Alerting strategies * Solve scaling bottlenecks in telemetry data pipelines * Create advanced tooling to accelerate root-cause analysis and reduce MTTR * Guide and mentor software engineering and SRE teams on monitoring best practices * Identify bottlenecks and single points of failure to improve platform reliability * Drive feature ideation, implementation, and adoption for observability products * Collaborate on planning for engineering alignment and reducing complexity * Respond to alerts and provide production support Tasks * 5+ years of experience with highly distributed systems * Experience designing APIs and data pipelines for high-throughput, real-time data ingestion * Proficiency in Go and/or Java * Strong understanding of system design and tradeoffs * Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and mentorship skills * Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC tools (Terraform) * Hands-on observability stack experience: Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, Prometheus, Grafana Tempo, Grafana LGTM, OpenTelemetry, Alertmanager Key requirements *
