You lead cross-commodity integration to achieve cohesive vehicle-level performance, guiding architecture choices and trade-offs under tight timelines. You’ll mentor global teams, communicate with leadership, and push data-driven decisions to protect thermal performance and customer experience. This is a high-impact role at scale, shaping how GM vehicles stay cool, efficient, and connected. Compensation / Benefits * Champion cross-commodity integration to deliver cohesive vehicle-level thermal performance * Own and drive thermal system integration for active thermal domains through early architecture and development phases * Lead creative problem solving for complex thermal performance conflicts using trade matrices * Guide use of analytical tools (0D/1D/3D analysis, simulation, virtual builds) to evaluate alternatives * Document technical decisions, risks, and mitigations in GM systems (VTS, GDM, peer reviews) * Provide consistent support in CITs, SDITs, VCITs and VPITs * Lead program-specific thermal system benchmarking and identify improvement opportunities * Ensure robust handoffs from AVD to execution teams with clear VTS, load cases, and lessons learned * Champion architectural cross-commodity integration to deliver cohesive vehicle-level thermal performance (8th Level) * Mentor the team in creative problem solving and maintain strategic decision-making under pressure * Lead cross-functional teams to resolve highly complex technical issues and align with studio design and program leadership Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in a technical field * 5+ years in automotive thermal systems engineering * Experience with HVAC and cabin comfort, coolant/refrigerant loops, underhood/underbody airflow and thermal protection, active aero, energy management * Proven ability to review and challenge architectures and conduct performance analyses * Strong communication and influencing skills; ability to simplify complex topics for non-experts * Interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams * DFSS Black Belt Certification Key requirements * hybrid work arrangement * relocation benefits * travel up to 25% * opportunities for leadership and mentorship * global collaboration * competitive rewards (Total Rewards)
