Job description
Experteer Overview In this role you will advance Varda’s ground segment software that enables spacecraft operations. You will work across telemetry, commanding, data distribution, and mission control interfaces to support real-time operations and post-flight analysis. You’ll build scalable, reliable services and UIs that reduce operator workload, while enabling fast, safe iteration through simulations and automated tests. This opportunity lets you shape the mission platform and deployment practices across lab, test, and on-orbit environments. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and maintain high-reliability telemetry ingestion, scaling, distribution, and commanding services with deterministic real-time behavior. * Create operator-grade Mission Control Interfaces (UIs/dashboards) to optimize operations and reduce cognitive load. * Build simulation and test automation tools for flight software, device emulators, and scenario-based tests for avionics and operations teams. * Design, implement, and productionize the mission platform, standardizing CI/CD, artifact management, templates, infrastructure-as-code, simulation and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks, test harnesses, and observability as self-service tooling. * Develop robust deployment patterns for lab benches, test stands, and mission networks, including safe rollout/rollback and air-gapped deployments. Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety critical software * 5+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or similar safety critical software * Expertise with Python and strong software fundamentals (concurrency, networking, performance, reliability) * Experience building real-time data acquisition, scaling, and distribution services (low-latency messaging, time-series and relational stores) * Hands-on experience with CI/CD, dependency/build systems, and infrastructure-as-code * End-to-end observability (logging, metrics, tracing) * Docker and Kubernetes; release management, phased rollouts, and operational readiness for controlled networks Key requirements * Flexible PTO * 12 paid holidays * 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents * HSA options * 12 weeks parental leave * 401(k) with 6% employer match overall (vesting)
