Job description
This is a hands-on role where you will be travelling to client sites across Cornwall, providing a mixture of 1st and 2nd Line IT support, troubleshooting technical issues and assisting with installations, upgrades and general infrastructure work.
You’ll be joining a team that provides both remote and onsite IT support to a wide range of businesses across Cornwall.
The Role
As an IT Field Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Visiting customer sites across Cornwall to resolve IT issues.
- Providing 1st and 2nd Line technical support to end users.
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, networking and connectivity issues.
- Diagnosing and resolving Windows and Microsoft 365 issues.
- Supporting desktops, laptops, printers and other IT hardware.
- Setting up and configuring new PCs, laptops and user accounts.
- Assisting with network and infrastructure installations.
- Supporting Microsoft technologies including Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Troubleshooting Wi-Fi, LAN and general connectivity issues.
- Escalating more complex issues to the wider technical team where required.
- Carrying out maintenance, upgrades and installations at client sites.
- Providing excellent customer service and communicating technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and updating support tickets following onsite visits.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with previous experience in an IT Support, Field Engineer, 2nd Line Engineer or similar role.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience providing 1st and 2nd Line IT support.
- Previous experience working in an MSP or IT services environment.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software and networking issues.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and user administration.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
- Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- The flexibility to travel throughout Cornwall.
