Job description

Experteer Overview As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own the design, build, and operation of GM’s self-service automation platforms that drive IT efficiency, security, and reliability at scale. You’ll shape cloud-native, distributed systems and secure microservices, partnering with security, DevOps, and product teams to deliver intuitive self-service experiences. You’ll blend hands-on engineering with architectural leadership, mentoring, and on-call ownership to raise platform maturity and developer productivity. This role offers meaningful impact by expanding AI-assisted automation and enterprise orchestration. Compensation / Benefits * Design, build, and operate enterprise-scale self-service automation platforms * Lead architecture and design of distributed, cloud-native systems * Develop secure, scalable microservices and front-end interfaces for automation use cases * Implement AI-assisted workflows to broaden self-service capabilities * Establish coding standards and architectural patterns * Instrument production systems with logs, metrics, and tracing for reliability * Own Tier 2/3 on-call support, incident response, and root-cause analysis * Monitor adoption, define KPIs, and report impact to leadership * Collaborate with Security & Compliance, DevOps, product, and engineering teams * Participate in Agile planning and maintain technical documentation * Evaluate new tools/technologies to improve platform capabilities and developer productivity * Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design guidance Tasks * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field * 7+ years of professional software engineering experience * Strong proficiency in Java and .NET with production-grade systems * Hands-on experience with cloud-native applications and deployment to Kubernetes and OpenShift * Deep understanding of microservices and distributed systems * Full-stack development experience and CI/CD practices * Experience with relational and non-relational databases including schema design * Solid fundamentals in design patterns, data structures, and algorithms * Experience in Agile environments * Strong communication and requirement translation skills * Proven ability to debug complex systems, manage incidents, and perform root-cause analysis * Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams * Demonstrated ownership of technical projects from design through production Key requirements *
