Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you build and maintain large-scale backend systems and APIs to support mission-critical services. You will lead the technical design of distributed architectures and mentor code quality, security, and performance. You will diagnose complex production issues and steer remediation efforts, with travel and hybrid work expected. You join a team focused on scalable, reliable backend platforms that enable GM’s software-enabled automotive initiatives, delivering impact at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Design, develop, and maintain large-scale backend systems and APIs for core applications * Lead technical design and implementation of distributed, service-oriented and event-driven architectures * Review code and designs to ensure quality, reliability, security, and performance * Troubleshoot production issues and lead root-cause analysis and remediation * Travel up to 20% for on-site collaboration when needed * Adapt to hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) and report to local office Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and 8 years of experience OR Master’s degree and 6 years of experience * 5 years in backend with Java and Kotlin; experience building distributed systems and microservices * 4 years in RESTful APIs, asynchronous messaging, event-driven systems; experience with relational and NoSQL databases * 3 years in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerized environments, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment; security concepts in backend systems Key requirements *
