Director, Desktop Engineering and Security

Experteer Overview As Director of Desktop Engineering and Security, you will lead global desktop environments within IT Infrastructure, collaborating with the Technology team to implement, maintain, and support desktop systems. You’ll shape device management, imaging, and policy enforcement while ensuring security controls across local and remote users. The role combines hands-on leadership with strategic oversight to enable efficient, secure end-user computing across multiple offices. You will partner cross-functionally to drive reliable, scalable desktop capabilities in support of the firm’s mission and hybrid work model. Compensation / Benefits * Maintain and optimize the desktop environment including device management, imaging, and group policy * Provide high-quality end-user support for 300+ users across NY, global offices, and remote locations * Participate in rotating on-call after-hours/weekends coverage * Setup, repair, and maintain hardware and software (servers, desktops, printers, Bloomberg, Citrix, MS Office, financial software) * Provide technical guidance on servers, storage, networking, and related IT systems * Handle user requests, data reports, and ad-hoc analyses to inform business decisions * Assist with process testing, data migration, system integration, and end-user deployment * Track production bugs and communicate status to users and management * Provide overnight/weekend testing for desktop environments as needed Tasks * 5-8 years in technology support within the financial industry * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in a team * Excellent verbal and written communication * Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365 * Experience with device management (Intune, SCCM) for imaging and patch management; Tanium is a plus * GPO management for Desktop environments * Experience with Citrix VDI and XenApp (on-premises and DAAS) * Experience with security tools for desktop environments (Defender, CASB, CIS Benchmarking) * Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell) * Bachelor’s degree * Commitment to inclusive behaviors and hybrid work policy * Location: New York City office four days/week with one remote day Key requirements *
