Collibra Data Management

Job description

Rather than simply maintaining governance frameworks, you will be responsible for helping embed them across the organisation, ensuring data is trusted, accessible, well understood and increasingly ready to support both traditional analytics and emerging AI use cases. The role

You will lead and mature the organisation’s Data Governance and Enablement capability, working across technology, data and the wider business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maturing the enterprise data governance framework
  • Establishing standards, improvement plans, working groups, data ownership and stewardship
  • Embedding governance requirements into data products and data solutions
  • Improving data quality, accessibility and understanding across the organisation
  • Developing and delivering data literacy and enablement programmes
  • Supporting users with the adoption of data platforms, tools and data products
  • Driving adoption and effective use of the organisation’s enterprise data catalogue
  • Establishing clear definitions for business terms, metrics and critical data
  • Creating, maintaining and enforcing data management policies and standards
  • Supporting governance across the full data lifecycle including onboarding, access, sharing, retention and deletion
  • Establishing KPIs and maturity measures to demonstrate progress
  • Leading Data Working Groups and developing effective networks of Data Owners and Data Stewards
  • Working closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, Product, Information Security and Privacy teams
  • Helping ensure data is appropriately governed and structured to support future AI and LLM use cases

Requirements

You’ll have strong practical experience of implementing and embedding data governance, rather than operating solely in a policy or advisory capacity., * Proven experience embedding data governance, data literacy or data culture within an organisation

  • Strong understanding of established governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, COBIT or equivalent
  • Practical knowledge of data lineage, retention, deletion, access control and data lifecycle management
  • Experience defining governance maturity measures, KPIs and reporting
  • Experience implementing or driving adoption of a data catalogue or metadata management platform
  • Knowledge of platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Atlan or similar
  • Experience establishing Data Owner and Data Steward communities
  • Strong policy and standards development experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory and privacy considerations such as GDPR
  • Experience designing and delivering data literacy, governance or enablement training
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and senior business stakeholders
  • The ability to translate technical data concepts into tangible business value

Experience within a large consumer-facing, digital, media, technology, retail or similarly data-rich organisation would be particularly relevant.

An understanding of AI data readiness, including the importance of metadata, data quality, cataloguing and trusted datasets for AI and LLM applications, would also be advantageous. Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to move beyond governance as a compliance exercise and take ownership of how data is understood, governed and adopted across an organisation.

You’ll have the opportunity to shape the operating model, influence how data products are developed and play a meaningful role in preparing the organisation’s data estate for its next generation of analytics and AI capabilities.
