Job description

Reporting to the Assistant Registrar for Systems and Infrastructure, the Systems and Infrastructure Generalist is a member of the Registrar’s Systems and Reporting team and serves within the University Registrar’s Office (URO) as the webmaster, report support, data specialist, and systems technician. This position actively participates in implementing and testing new tools, workflow processes, and strategic initiatives designed to increase departmental effectiveness. The Systems Infrastructure Generalist is primarily responsible for technological, systems, and reporting-running functions within the URO, including their interdependence with university-wide systems, and provides functional support for the Systems and Reporting Team., In addition to these responsibilities, the Systems and Infrastructure Generalist will be trained in the scribing and maintenance of DegreeWorks, the University’s degree clearance and auditing system. Scribing is an essential skill set within the URO and requires a higher level of technical skill, understanding, and ability. The position requires a solid understanding of how to leverage reporting to support student needs and the institution’s strategic goals. The Systems and Infrastructure Generalist will also assist in troubleshooting system issues, maintaining system documentation, and supporting the integration of new technologies and processes across the office., * Acquiring new technical knowledge and actively contributing to the Systems Infrastructure Team by familiarizing themselves with all systems and software used by the URO, ensuring comprehensive support across various functions, including curriculum management, degree auditing, transcript provision, registration setup, and system configuration.

  • Collaborates and creates forms using a wide range of software to support the operational needs of the URO and the University.
  • Focuses on maintaining the accuracy and integrity of data for reporting purposes, serving both internal and external stakeholders within the URO and the campus community.
  • Provides support to in correcting and updating the Student DataMart, utilizing familiarity with URO software to ensure data reliability.
  • Reviews reports and conducts data analysis for internal and external customers, drawing on expertise with relevant URO systems and tools.
  • Coordinates the creation and maintenance of security roles for Banner student systems, applying knowledge of system configurations and access management.
  • Assists the Systems Infrastructure Team and the entire URO with technical issues, proactively informing the supervisor of specific needs and emerging system challenges.
  • Backs up the Operations and Services team in the distribution and support of office hardware.

Percentage Of Time 30% Key Responsibility DegreeWorks Support Responsibilities Essential Tasks

  • Review program revisions submitted by the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UCC) and translate necessary changes for implementation in DegreeWorks.
  • Input information from Banner into DegreeWorks utilizing Scribe, Sure Code, and Transit; after coding new requirements in Scribe, parse and update degree evaluations in real time.
  • Work collaboratively with the DegreeWorks team to resolve any system issues arising from information integration across platforms.
  • Support DegreeWorks-related projects by assisting with testing activities and following established test plans and scenarios.
  • Ensure the accuracy of upgrades and system changes by testing degree audits and application processes.
  • Act as a resource for undergraduate academic programs, translating academic requirements, policies, and procedures related to DegreeWorks systems, including degree audit and Transfer Equivalency.
  • Help respond to inquiries received through the generic DegreeWorks email account.

Percentage Of Time 5% Key Responsibility Report Writing and Support Essential Tasks

  • Run reports as needed from various platforms, including Courseleaf, EMS, Banner, DegreeWorks, and WebFocus.
  • Analyze data from these reports to support academic and administrative processes.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure accurate and timely report generation for decision-making purposes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming; or Bachelor’s Degree with some computer related coursework; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Additional Qualifications: Journey competency level requires an additional six months experience.
  • Advanced competency level requires an additional one (1) year of experience.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates, * Bachelors Degree in information systems, information management, information technology, technology in education and five years of progressive experience in technology in higher education preferred.
