Job description
We are adding a Data Analyst Assistant to our team to help with a specific project for a German renewable energy firm in Hamburg. This client has years of operational data currently stored in a web of complex spreadsheets, and we are helping them move that information into a structured database system. In this role, you will help organize, clean, and verify this data to ensure the firm can accurately track their energy production and equipment health. About Pixel Systems Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing sites. Instead, we focus on the practical tools that businesses actually use to function, such as admin panels, CRM integrations, and database migrations. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another. We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything, including the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos, when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a small team of professionals who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends. The Role In this role, you will be doing the foundational work that makes data useful for our clients. A large part of your day will involve cleaning up messy datasets and preparing them for migration from legacy formats into modern databases. You will spend time looking at how data is stored in one system and mapping it to another, which means identifying duplicates, fixing formatting errors, and ensuring that the information we move is clean and reliable. You will also help create basic reports and dashboards so the client can see their energy output and maintenance schedules clearly for the first time. Because Pixel Systems is a remote company, you will manage your own schedule and communicate your progress through regular updates and clear documentation. This is a paid position, and the pay is competitive for an entry-level role in the current market. What you bring
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of turning a mess of information into something structured. Since this is an entry-level position, we do not expect you to have years of professional experience, but we do need you to have a solid grasp of the basics.
- A basic understanding of how relational databases work.
- Experience using Excel or Google Sheets for more than just simple lists (using functions to sort or filter data).
- A high level of attention to detail to spot errors in large datasets.
- The ability to write clearly so that your documentation is easy for others to follow.
- A patient approach to repetitive tasks, like verifying hundreds of rows of data for accuracy.
- Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment.
- A pragmatic mindset that values getting a task done correctly over finding the most complex solution.
Helpful background While these are not strict requirements, it is helpful if you have some familiarity with the tools we use every day. If you have any experience with the following, it will help you get up to speed faster:
- Basic SQL knowledge for writing simple queries to find or update data.
- Familiarity with Postgres or other relational database management systems.
- Experience with GitHub for version control or basic project management.
- Knowledge of how APIs work to move data between different software services.
- Any experience using basic scripting (like Python or JavaScript) to automate simple tasks.
Working at Pixel Systems Working here is different from a typical corporate environment. We are a small team without layers of middle management or unnecessary meetings. When you have a question, you talk directly to the person who wrote the code or designed the system. We focus on shipping work that helps real people, like the operations managers at the renewable energy firm, do their jobs more effectively.
About the company
Because we are 100 percent remote, we rely on honesty and clear communication. We value people who are upfront about what they know and what they are still learning. You will have the opportunity to see how professional databases are built from the ground up and contribute to systems that will remain in use for years. We keep our culture simple and focused on the work. There are no office politics or ego-driven decisions here. We just build stable systems, fix things when they break, and help our clients get their data under control.
