Job description
This role will mainly be based at Wayland Academy, Merton Rd, Watton, Thetford, IP25 6BA, however the successful candidate must be able to travel independently to multiple locations, as you may need to support or cover other schools from time to time as directed by the Central IT Team.
Working hours will normally be between 8:30 and 16:30 Monday to Friday. You may be required to work flexible hours for Ofsted inspections and out of hours activities as agreed with the school.
We have an exciting opportunity for a reliable, dynamic and responsible person to work as an ICT Technician at Wayland Academy to provide installation, maintenance development and administrative support for the school’s IT resources.
What You’ll Be Doing

Be the first point of contact for IT Support of incidents, standard requests and initial problem management within the school

Provide a professional, customer-focused support service with a focus on continual service improvement

Ensure school asset registers are maintained, and the asset lifecycle procedure is followed

Provide classroom support to teachers with software and hardware that supports learning

Ensure maximum availability of all IT-provided equipment

Liaise with third-party providers for managed equipment
Requirements
The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of hardware and software, as well as good communication and problem-solving skills. You should take pride in responding quickly and effectively to all support requirements and take an open approach to help everyone get the best out of the school’s IT Systems. You will also have a passion for continuous learning, high attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
Essential:
-
Experience working within an ITIL Aligned Service Desk or support environment utilising a ticketing tool

Basic functional knowledge of Windows 10/11

Basic functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (desktop and cloud based)

Ability to install and manage computer hardware and peripherals in an education focused environment

Basic fault finding skills and the ability to problem solve within a technical environment
Desirable:
-
Industry Standard IT certification, including CompTIA (A+, ITF+), Cisco Certified Technician (CCT), M365 Fundamentals, Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)

Basic knowledge of Active Directory (User accounts/Groups etc)

Basic knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP)

Basic knowledge of Windows based domain administration
