Job description
This position develops, implements, and provides knowledge transfer on standard tools and practices to enable reliable, secure, and efficient infrastructure services across Pasco Countyâs heterogeneous environment. The Technical Engineer - Infrastructure is a hands-on leader responsible for designing, administering, and improving hybrid infrastructure spanning on-premises data center services and Microsoft cloud platforms (Microsoft 365 and Azure) within a US Sovereign Government Community Cloud (GCC) tenant. This is a high-level position requiring enterprise experience and knowledge across multiple enterprise systems. This position reports to the Sr. Operations Manager. Produce status reports including work performed, time allocated, risks, and issues. Perform related duties as assigned. Participate in on-call rotation and occasional after-hours maintenance., * Research, planning, upgrading, and installing core enterprise systems including all County-supported platforms.
- Administer and support Windows Server (2016/2019/2022+), Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Support hybrid identity using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Microsoft Entra Connect, including troubleshooting directory sync issues and identity lifecycle processes.
- Establish and maintain standards for server builds, configuration baselines, patching, hardening, and performance monitoring.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 tenant services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Exchange Online Protection (EOP).
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID Conditional Access, RBAC, and PIM for identity governance.
- Maintain Microsoft 365 configuration, licensing, domain settings, and service health across the GCC tenant environment.
- Administer Intune for device compliance, configuration profiles, MDM/MAM deployment, and application delivery.
- Perform SCCM (Configuration Manager) administration and configuration, including collections, software deployments, patching, and reporting.
- Perform SCCM (Configuration Manager) upgrades and installation.
- Utilize PowerShell to automate tasks, improve operational efficiency, and perform system configuration across Windows/AD, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune.
- Administer VMware vSphere environments including HA/DRS configuration, VM provisioning, host performance tuning, and capacity management.
- Support and manage enterprise SAN storage systems including provisioning, zoning, monitoring, and performance analysis.
- Maintain environment security through configuration baselines, access auditing, and adherence to industry best practices.
- Support system backup/restore procedures, disaster recovery testing, and resiliency planning.
- Troubleshoot complex, cross-platform issues spanning cloud, identity, networking, server, storage, and application layers.
- Working on enterprise project systems/applications, including required project experience and project management responsibilities.
- Participate in change management processes, risk evaluation, execution planning, and post-change validation.
- Document systems, standards, procedures, diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide knowledge transfer, mentoring, and collaboration across IT operations and project teams., EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES: All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driverâs License license?, Do you have experience in vSphere?, Do you have a Associateâs degree?, * Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, VMware vSphere, and enterprise SAN storage systems.
- Senior-level experience administering Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive), Entra ID, and Intune in hybrid enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: IP, DNS, SMTP, VLANs, routing concepts, and load balancing fundamentals.
- Experience with automation using PowerShell for administration and configuration tasks.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues that cross multiple technology areas.
- Strong documentation abilities and capability to mentor other IT team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a team member/leader depending on project needs
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology environments.
Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Must be able to use and sit at a computer console for extended periods of time.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelorâs Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and six (6) yearsâ experience in implementation, maintenance and administration of complex Windows networks OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field and eight (8) yearsâ experience in implementation, maintenance and administration of complex Windows networks. Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and PowerShell preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driverâs license. Microsoft Certified System Engineer or equivalent technical certificates required if the applicant does not possess a degree.
