Job description

  • Creating, maintaining and improving Power BI dashboards and reports that help teams understand service performance.
  • Identifying opportunities to replace manual processes with practical digital solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools.
  • Developing, improving or supporting Power Apps that help colleagues capture information, manage tasks or streamline operational processes.
  • Working with colleagues across Highways to understand what information they need and how current processes could be improved.
  • Helping to extract, clean and interpret data from service systems.

Requirements

This opportunity is advertised as full-time, however we actively encourage applications from people wanting to work on a part-time basis and/or wanting to work flexibly.

This is a varied and practical role in the Data Insight Team, based within the busy Highways Operation Centre. You will help colleagues make better use of information, improve local processes, and turn service data into clear and useful insight. Our team works through a mix of remote and office-based working, with the office base in Winchester.

You do not need to be a technical specialist before joining us. We are looking for someone who is confident working with data, enjoys solving problems, and can communicate clearly with colleagues across the service. The ideal candidate will have experience of developing Power BI reports, Excel, Power Apps, Power Automate. Familiarity with SQL or database queries would also be a useful skill.

A key part of the role will be helping us make better use of Microsoft Power Platform tools to support service improvements and reduce reliance on manual processes. We are especially interested in candidates who have experience of developing or supporting Power Apps., * You are comfortable working with data and can spot patterns, issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • You are interested in using Power BI, Power Apps or other Microsoft 365 tools to solve practical business problems.
  • You can explain technical or data-related information in a way that is clear for non-specialist audiences.
  • You are curious, organised and willing to learn new tools and approaches.
  • You enjoy working with others and building positive relationships across the service.
