Ai Azure Foundry Engineer

About the role: We are looking for an AI / Azure Foundry Engineer to accelerate our organisation’s transition into AI-enabled smart automation.You will use Azure AI Foundry, Python, and advanced AI tooling to design intelligent automation solutions that eliminate repetitive work and improve process efficiency for our internal teams - with special focus on Payroll and Products.Beyond project delivery, you will help shape the engineering direction, reusable patterns, and technical standards for all AI-driven automation within the Smart Automation team.What You Will DoDesign and build automation solutions leveraging Azure AI Foundry capabilities, including model orchestration, vector search, secure prompt pipelines, and evaluation toolingDevelop and maintain Python-based AI services integrated with Foundry workflows, AI hubs, models, and datasetsCreate reusable AI components and best-practice patterns for other squads to adoptEstablish guidelines for prompt design, model governance, evaluation, and safe AI deployment using Azure Foundry frameworksLead discussions on AI architecture, responsible AI, and performance optimisationAutomation Delivery (Python, AI, Foundry Integration)Develop end-to-end intelligent automation solutions for internal customers, focusing on high-frequency, high-effort repetitive processesLeverage Azure AI Foundry to build solutions such as:Agentic automationRetrieval-augmented automation (RAA / RAG)Integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems through secure APIs, microservices, and Python automation scriptsBuild pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, embeddings, and vector searchPartner closely with Payroll and Product SMEs to assess processes and identify AI automation opportunitiesTranslate business challenges into clear technical requirements and AI solution designsCommunicate AI concepts, limitations, risks, and value clearly to non-technical audiencesWork collaboratively with other engineers in Smart Automation to ensure consistency in solution design and standardsReliability, Governance & Continuous ImprovementEnsure solutions follow engineering best practices: version control, testing, observability, monitoring, and secure developmentParticipate in post-incident reviews and embed learnings into AI architectural patternsAdvocate modern engineering practices such as model evaluation, telemetry, traceability, and responsible AIContinuously scan emerging Azure Foundry features and AI capabilities and recommend safe adoption pathsWhat you have to offer?Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related technical disciplineSoftware Engineer professional experience at least 6 yearsDemonstrable experience delivering AI or machine learning solutions in a production or enterprise environment at least 3 yearsProven experience with Azure AI Foundry or comparable Azure AI/ML platform servicesAll code committed via feature branches; no direct push to main without a reviewed pull requestUnit tests written alongside code; solutions deployed with observability and monitoring configured from day oneSecrets and credentials stored exclusively in Azure Key Vault - never in source code or pipeline variablesAll Azure service-to-service calls authenticated via Managed Identity (Zero Trust)AI solutions deployed with Content Safety, grounding checks, and responsible AI guardrails applied before Staging or ProdActively engage with Payroll and Product SMEs to validate AI solution designs before build commencesCommunicate clearly and honestly about AI limitations, risks, and confidence levels - especially to non-technical partnersShare reusable components, patterns, and learnings with the broader Smart Automation teamRaise blockers and risks early; Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related technical discipline Software Engineer professional experience at least 6 years Demonstrable experience delivering AI or machine learning solutions in a production or enterprise environment at least 3 years Proven experience with Azure AI Foundry or comparable Azure AI/ML platform services All code committed via feature branches; no direct push to main without a reviewed pull request Unit tests written alongside code; solutions deployed with observability and monitoring configured from day one
