IT Technician

The IT Technician is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support for users across United Contractors Midwest’s multiple office, plant, and field locations. This role will assist with mobile devices, laptops, user setup, troubleshooting, networking support, and general IT operations. The position is designed as a long-term growth opportunity within the UCM IT department, working closely with experienced IT team members to gradually learn infrastructure, systems administration, networking, and enterprise technology support., * Provide technical support for end users across multiple UCM locations, plants, and jobsites. Traveling is frequently required throughout Central/Southern Illinois.

• Set up, configure, and troubleshoot company iPhones, iPads, laptops, and desktop computers.
• Manage mobile devices using IBM MAAS 360, Verizon MDM and Verizon One Talk platforms.
• Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, user accounts, and Active Directory support.
• Provide remote support.
• Assist with networking, VPN connectivity, firewall support, and general infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Support Apple-based devices and environments across the company.
• Help maintain and monitor systems using ScreenConnect, PDQ Connect and FortiClient EMS.
• Assist senior staff in managing servers in a virtual environment utilizing VMWare.
• Support company software platforms including Viewpoint Vista, HCSS HeavyJob and HeavyBid, Astec Systems, Command Batch, FleetWatcher, and related operational software.
• Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and system updates.
• Assist with technology setup and support for field operations and plant startup activities.
• Work closely with senior IT staff to learn systems, processes, and long-term infrastructure management responsibilities.
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain professionalism while supporting field and office personnel.

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Organizational skills?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, The ideal candidate is dependable, eager to learn, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. This individual will support both Northern and Southern Illinois operations and should be willing to travel between locations as needed., * High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training in Information Technology, Networking, or related field preferred. IT experience without formal education is also valued.

• Entry-level IT experience or internship experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, VPNs, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Apple devices, Windows devices, and mobile technology preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory is a plus.
• Exposure to Fortinet products, VMware, or remote support tools is beneficial.
• Experience with construction industry software such as Viewpoint Vista, HCSS HeavyJob or HeavyBid is a plus.
• CompTIA, A+, Network+, Security+ or related certifications are helpful but not required.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between company locations.
