Job description

Collate is looking for a Customer Solutions Architect (CSA) to serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for our customers. This role blends deep technical expertise with customer-facing leadership. Your primary objective is to ensure customer success, retention, and expansion by driving adoption of the Collate platform, providing best practices, and helping customers achieve measurable business outcomes.

You will partner closely with Customer Solutions, Sales, Product, and Engineering to accelerate customer time-to-value, maximize product consumption, and help organizations mature their data practices with Collate. What You’ll Do

  • Champion the Customer: Act as the technical voice of the customer within Collate, influencing roadmap and ensuring delivery success.
  • Guide Architecture & Best Practices: Provide hands-on guidance on data discovery, observability, governance, lineage, and security design using Collate.
  • Accelerate Adoption: Help customers operationalize Collate AI Agents and metadata-driven workflows to increase trust, collaboration, and productivity across teams.
  • Solve Complex Problems: Roll up your sleeves to troubleshoot customer environments alongside Collate engineers when needed.
  • Educate & Empower: Develop knowledge assets, lead technical workshops, and enable customer teams to independently extend their Collate usage.
  • Drive Value: Present business reviews with insights into technical health, platform adoption, and opportunities to unlock further value.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills:
  • ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • capable of influencing executive sponsors, data stewards, and technical teams alike.
  • Proven experience rolling out data governance programs in large or complex organizations, including designing processes, driving adoption, and measuring success.
  • Strong awareness of data governance frameworks and operating models (e.g., stewardship roles, data councils, policy enforcement) and the ability to adapt them to customer contexts.
  • Ability to evangelize and guide organizations on the “how” of governance, from change management and stakeholder alignment to best practices in metadata-driven adoption.
  • Background in technical field roles (Customer Success, Solutions Architecture, Consulting, or similar), ideally within SaaS or enterprise software.
  • Familiarity with modern data infrastructure and governance tools (metadata catalogs, lineage, observability platforms, data quality frameworks).
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and an ability to bridge technical requirements with governance needs.
  • Collaborative, customer-centric approach; able to manage multiple accounts while delivering measurable outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with OpenMetadata, data catalogs, or observability platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML workflows and how metadata can drive trust in AI.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for prototyping solutions.
  • Knowledge of modern data ecosystems (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Familiarity with adjacent solutions (Alation, Collibra, Atlan, Datahub, etc.).

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary and early-stage equity.
  • Fully remote role with a global, distributed team.
  • Work directly with world-class founders and early builders of Apache and Uber’s data stack.
  • Join a fast-growing, no-bureaucracy team obsessed with solving the hardest data challenges.
  • Opportunity to shape the category of metadata + AI Agents and impact how data teams worldwide collaborate.

About the company

Serve as a technical customer advocate to drive adoption of the Collate platform. Advise on architecture, governance, lineage, observability, and security; troubleshoot environments; run workshops; produce enablement materials; present business reviews to drive retention, expansion, and measurable outcomes. The summary above was generated by AI

Collate is the company behind OpenMetadata, the fastest-growing open-source metadata platform. Our founders previously created Apache Hadoop, Apache Atlas, and Uber Databook, and cofounded Hortonworks, taking it through IPO.

We’re on a mission to help every organization realize the full potential of their data through AI Agents, open source, and unified metadata. Traditional data catalogs and quality tools fall short, Collate solves foundational challenges in data discovery, observability, and governance by building an agentic metadata platform that connects all data users.

With Collate’s AI powered platform, enterprises can:

  • Discover and understand data at scale.
  • Ensure trust and quality across complex ecosystems.
  • Unlock collaboration, observability, and governance with a unified metadata layer.

If you’re passionate about shaping the future of data and AI, this is your opportunity to join a category-defining company at the ground floor.
