System Design Engineer Senior Onshore

We are currently looking for a Senior System Engineer (Network & Security) to join a dynamic and technically advanced environment for a 6-month contract based in Mechelen. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex infrastructures and enjoys working hands-on with cutting-edge network and security technologies, particularly within the Fortinet ecosystem., As a Senior System Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and secure infrastructures: Translate business and technical requirements into scalable system designs Evaluate architectural options and define optimal solutions Ensure design compliance and support deployment activities Manage and optimize system performance, capacity, and reliability Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation of systems and processes Maintain technical documentation and system knowledge Handle complex incidents and perform root cause analysis Participate in on-call support when required

Minimum 5+ years of experience in system engineering or IT infrastructure Strong expertise in network and security infrastructures Hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiManager, etc.) Solid knowledge of: BGP SD-WAN IPsec VPNs Experience with advanced troubleshooting and debugging Comfortable working in complex, high-availability environments Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset Proactive, adaptable, and result-oriented team player What You Can Expect A challenging and impactful project in a high-level technical environment Exposure to modern network and security architectures A collaborative and international team Full English-speaking workplace
