We are seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Systems & Network Administrator to support the technology infrastructure of a mining and industrial operation in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position is responsible for the administration, availability, security, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the site’s IT infrastructure and end-user technology environment. The Systems & Network Administrator will support servers, Microsoft Windows environments, LAN/WAN networks, fiber connectivity, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, cloud services, email, network equipment, cybersecurity controls, endpoint devices, business applications, and related technology infrastructure. This is not solely a help-desk position. The successful candidate will have solid systems and networking knowledge and be capable of independently diagnosing infrastructure, connectivity, hardware, software, security, and user-related issues while coordinating with internal and external technology resources when necessary. The ideal candidate is a resourceful IT professional who understands that in a mining and industrial environment, technology availability, network reliability, cybersecurity, and rapid issue resolution are essential to supporting safe and efficient operations. Essential Functions Systems Administration & Infrastructure Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows-based systems and related IT infrastructure. Install, configure, maintain, and support servers, workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and other computing equipment. Perform routine system maintenance, configuration changes, upgrades, patches, and software deployments. Monitor infrastructure performance, system availability, storage capacity, and overall system health. Diagnose hardware, operating system, application, and infrastructure issues and implement appropriate corrective actions. Support physical and virtual server environments. Assist with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, or comparable platforms. Maintain system configurations and technical documentation. Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes. Test backups and recovery procedures as required to help ensure critical information and systems can be restored. Coordinate with vendors and other technical resources for infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, repairs, and specialized support. Network Administration - LAN/WAN & Fiber Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting office and operational environments. Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, latency, availability, and performance issues. Support TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, routing, switching, and network segmentation. Configure and support network switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and other network devices. Support installation, troubleshooting, documentation, and maintenance of fiber-optic and structured cabling infrastructure. Assist with network expansion, upgrades, configuration changes, and infrastructure projects. Monitor network performance and availability and respond appropriately to outages or degradation. Maintain network diagrams, configurations, IP addressing information, equipment inventories, and other technical documentation. Work with telecommunications, internet, and technology vendors to resolve service interruptions and infrastructure issues. Microsoft 365, Active Directory & Identity Management Administer Microsoft Active Directory, including users, computers, security groups, permissions, and organizational units. Support Group Policy administration and configuration. Create, modify, disable, and maintain employee user accounts throughout the user lifecycle. Administer and support Microsoft 365 applications and services. Support Microsoft email and collaboration environments, including Exchange Online and Outlook. Support Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) and hybrid identity environments where applicable. Administer user permissions, authentication, and role-based access. Support multi-factor authentication (MFA) and identity-security controls. Troubleshoot account, authentication, access, email, and Microsoft 365 issues. Assist with cloud-based systems, storage, applications, and infrastructure. Cybersecurity & Information Protection Support cybersecurity policies, standards, controls, and best practices. Monitor systems, endpoints, and networks for suspicious activity, vulnerabilities, and potential security incidents. Support endpoint protection, antivirus, anti-malware, firewall, and other security technologies. Implement and maintain appropriate device and data encryption. Support identity and access-management controls based on least-privilege principles. Assist with vulnerability remediation, system hardening, security updates, and patch management. Support MFA, password-management, and account-security requirements. Investigate suspected security incidents and escalate appropriately. Assist with security audits, assessments, remediation activities, and compliance requirements. Maintain appropriate documentation of security incidents and corrective actions. Help protect organizational systems, devices, networks, applications, and information from unauthorized access or loss. Endpoint & Device Management Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, and other endpoints. Support printers, scanners, monitors, docking stations, conference-room technology, and other peripherals. Perform operating-system installations, upgrades, patching, and configuration. Support endpoint management technologies such as Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, or comparable tools, where applicable. Assist with device encryption, security configuration, and endpoint compliance. Maintain accurate inventories of computers, networking equipment, peripherals, licenses, and other IT assets. Coordinate equipment deployment, replacement, repair, and retirement. Follow appropriate procedures for secure disposal or reassignment of technology assets. Technical Support & Troubleshooting Provide responsive technical support to employees experiencing hardware, software, application, network, internet, email, access, or peripheral issues. Diagnose problems systematically and identify root causes rather than relying solely on temporary fixes. Prioritize support requests based on urgency, operational impact, and business requirements. Manage and document support requests through Zendesk or a comparable IT service-management/ticketing platform. Maintain clear documentation of incidents, troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and recurring issues. Communicate technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge. Escalate complex infrastructure, application, network, or security issues when appropriate. Identify recurring support issues and recommend permanent technical or process improvements. Cloud & Business Applications Support cloud computing environments and cloud-based business applications. Assist with administration of cloud services, user access, security, storage, and related configurations. Support organizational software applications and specialized technical systems. Provide technical support for Autodesk products, including AutoCAD and related engineering applications, as applicable. Install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain licensed software. Support software licensing and application-access requirements. Coordinate with application vendors when specialized technical support is required. Assist with testing and deployment of new applications, upgrades, and technology solutions. Monitoring, Backup & Business Continuity Proactively monitor systems, servers, network infrastructure, storage, endpoints, and other critical technology resources. Respond to system alerts and investigate potential infrastructure problems. Help maintain reliable backup processes for critical systems and information. Support restoration of systems and data following hardware failures, system incidents, or other disruptions. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Assist with testing recovery procedures and documenting results. Identify infrastructure risks and recommend solutions that improve reliability, resilience, and availability. IT Asset, Documentation & Vendor Management Maintain accurate inventories of IT hardware, software, network devices, peripherals, and licenses. Maintain documentation of network configurations, system architecture, access procedures, technical standards, and operating procedures. Document system changes, upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting resolutions. Coordinate with hardware, software, telecommunications, cloud, internet, and technology service providers. Assist with equipment procurement, deployment, warranty claims, repairs, and replacements. Track technology assets throughout their lifecycle. Help maintain appropriate software licensing and technology records.
