Job description

This position is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of Data Centers, MDFs, and IDFs. This role performs hands-on installation, cabling, equipment support, documentation, and troubleshooting activities while ensuring infrastructure is maintained according to company standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Rack, stack, cable, label, and decommission servers, network, and storage equipment.
  • Install, patch, troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Support MDF and IDF infrastructure, including patch panels, switches, and structured cabling.
  • Maintain rack elevations, cable records, and asset information within the DCIM platform.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of cabling, network connectivity, and hardware issues.
  • Assist with equipment moves, adds, and changes.
  • Escort vendors and contractors in Data Center and telecommunications spaces as required.
  • Maintain organized racks, cable management, and documentation standards.
  • Support maintenance activities and infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate with business and vendors to schedule patching and maintenance downtime.
  • Great Customer Service and Professional skills.
  • Provide on-site and technical support to users, addressing IT issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  • Manage asset inventory, including tracking, updating, and maintaining records of IT equipment.
  • Perform imaging and refreshing of computers and other devices to ensure they are up-to-date and functioning properly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common IT issues, such as printer problems, software errors, and network connectivity issues.
  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio and video equipment, including projectors, microphones, and video conferencing systems.
  • Support live events by operating AV systems and addressing any technical issues that arise.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and IT staff to resolve complex issues and improve support processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records of support requests, resolutions, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a Data Center, telecommunications, network support, or IT infrastructure environment.
  • Experience working in Data Centers, MDFs, or IDFs.
  • Experience installing and supporting network, server, and storage hardware.
  • Experience patching and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Familiarity with rack elevations, cable management, and asset tracking.
  • Basic understanding of networking, server hardware, and physical infrastructure.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work on ladders, in racks, and in data center environments.
  • Ability to distinguish cable colors and labels accurately.
  • Ability to provide off hour support for incidents and planned maintenance activities

Additional Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ticketing system
  • Proven experience in providing IT support in an office environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of Audio/Visual room support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
