Job description

  • Would you love to learn how to build high-traffic, low-latency systems that process millions of data points per day?, This mid-sized tech company in Amsterdam develops a data-heavy platform that turns complex information into insights improving healthcare worldwide. Behind the scenes, that means working with massive data streams, distributed systems, and 24/7 high-availability infrastructure.

The timing couldn’t be better for your growth: the platform is stable and mature, but the team is now adding new features, AI integrations, and global scaling. As a junior engineer, you’ll immediately contribute to meaningful projects, learn directly from experienced colleagues, and build software that truly makes an impact.

The culture is open, collaborative, and knowledge-driven. Most engineers hold an MSc or PhD and value mentorship and knowledge sharing. You’ll get strong guidance, the freedom to make mistakes, and the opportunity to accelerate your development., As a Junior Backend Engineer Amsterdam, you’ll help develop scalable backend systems that process and analyze complex data. You’ll build and test event-driven microservices using Java and Kotlin, leverage Kafka for streaming, and run everything on GCP using Docker and Terraform.

Requirements

  • Do you want to be mentored by experienced MSc and PhD engineers who’ll teach you the ins and outs of software architecture, system design, and clean coding?, * At least 1 year of professional backend development experience
  • Experience with Java or Kotlin
  • Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and basic cloud concepts (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Interest in event-driven architectures and data-intensive systems
  • Completed MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Dutch

Benefits & conditions

  • And do you say yes to a salary up to €65.000, hybrid working, and an environment where you can grow your skills every single day?, * Salary between €50.000 and €65.000 gross per year
  • Option to work 32, 36, or 40 hours per week
  • 2 remote work days per week
  • 26 vacation days
  • Travel allowance
  • Solid pension plan (2/3 paid by the employer)
  • MacBook provided
  • Training budget and internal mentorship
  • Work alongside highly educated engineers eager to share their knowledge
