Java Backend Engineer

As Senior Java Backend Engineer Amsterdam, you will work on the core of this AI-powered platform. You’ll design and optimize scalable microservices with Java21, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services. Your focus will be on performance, scalability, and reliability-because millions of users rely on this system every day.

You’ll join a distributed, cross-functional team of software engineers, data engineers, data scientists, and product managers. Together, you design, build, and roll out new features globally. Think of accelerating analysis algorithms, setting up new data pipelines, or reducing latency in distributed systems.

As a senior, your role goes beyond coding: you’ll introduce coding standards, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers-creating impact on both the platform and the team.

• At least 7 years of experience in backend development
• Experience with Java (preferably Java17/21) and Spring Boot
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD
• Experience with AWS services or another cloud platform
• Experience designing (micro)services
• Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers
• A completed technical BSc or MSc is a strong plus
