Job description

We are seeking an Installation Field Technician to support structured cabling installations and provide IT support in the Austin area. This role is ideal for someone hands-on, dependable, and looking to grow their career in IT infrastructure and field services. You will be responsible for installing, terminating, and testing computer cabling, as well as providing technical support for end-user devices and network connectivity., * Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a copper cabling

  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, conduit, raceway, and cable trays
  • Perform basic testing and troubleshooting using cable testers
  • Install and support network equipment such as switches, patch panels, wall jacks, and racks
  • Follow TIA/EIA standards and company installation best practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cabling runs and site work

IT Support

  • Provide desktop and laptop support (Windows and limited Mac)
  • Assist with device setup, imaging, and peripheral installation
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues (wired and wireless)
  • Support printers, VoIP phones, and basic A/V equipment
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately while documenting work performed

General Duties

  • Travel to branches throughout Central and South Texas
  • Maintain tools, inventory, and company equipment
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a professional on-site presence

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in cabling, low-voltage, or IT support (training considered)
  • Understanding of computer hardware and networking fundamentals
  • Ability to work on ladders, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in ceilings or tight spaces
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Computer Skills:

  • Familiarity with help desk or desktop support environments
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or cabling-related certifications
  • Knowledge of basic IP networking (DHCP, DNS, VLAN concepts)
