Job description
The IT Field Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting a wide variety of technology solutions at customer locations. This position combines hands-on installation work with technical support and requires someone who is comfortable working independently while representing TBTECHSERV professionally., IT Support
- Troubleshoot Windows computers and laptops
- Diagnose hardware and software issues
- Install and configure computers and peripherals
- Remove malware and perform system optimization
- Install operating systems and software
- Configure Microsoft 365 and user accounts
- Provide onsite and remote technical support
Network Installation & Support
- Install and configure:
- Routers
- Switches
- Wireless Access Points
- Firewalls
- Configure basic networking equipment
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues
- Run and terminate Ethernet cabling
- Label and organize network infrastructure
- Assist with rack installations and cable management
- Test and certify network cabling
Camera & Security Systems
- Install commercial security cameras
- Mount cameras indoors and outdoors
- Install NVRs and recording equipment
- Configure camera systems
- Troubleshoot surveillance hardware
- Install and assist with door access control systems
- Run low-voltage wiring for cameras and access control
Structured Cabling
- Pull Cat6/Cat6A cable
- Pull fiber optic cable (training provided if needed)
- Install patch panels
- Terminate RJ45 connectors and keystone jacks
- Install cable supports and pathways
- Maintain neat, organized cable installations
Physical Requirements
This position is physically active and requires:
- Standing for extended periods
- Walking throughout commercial buildings
- Frequently climbing ladders (6-20 feet)
- Working on lifts (training provided)
- Crawling in ceilings and under desks
- Working in attics, basements, and mechanical rooms
- Lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds
- Using power tools and hand tools safely
- Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, Daily use of:
- Screwdrivers
- Drills and impact drivers
- Cable testers
- Punch-down tools
- Crimpers
- Fish tape and cable pullers
- Label makers
- Toners and probes
- Ladders
- Power tools
- Laptop computers
- Mobile devices
Requirements
- Basic understanding of computer hardware
- Strong troubleshooting ability
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Good communication skills
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional appearance and attitude
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Microsoft Windows 11
- Microsoft 365
- Basic Active Directory
- Networking fundamentals
- TCP/IP
- Wi-Fi troubleshooting
- Ubiquiti/UniFi equipment
- Security camera installation
- Door access control systems
- Structured cabling
- Fiber optics
- Low-voltage electrical work
- VoIP phone systems
- Network racks and server equipment
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or vendor-specific certifications are a plus but not required., * Loves technology
