Associate Web Developer

pJHC Consulting is currently advising a major European regulatory body on complex questions of governance and long term strategy. In support of this mandate and our broader advisory practice, we are seeking an Associate Web Developer to join our firm. This is a full time, permanent position that focuses on the digital systems used to host, organize, and present our written counsel. We are a practice built on the belief that writing is thinking. We require a developer who understands that technical infrastructure exists to serve the clarity of the argument and the integrity of the record. The Role In this position, you will be responsible for the technical environments that house our research and final memoranda. Your day to day work involves maintaining the stability and readability of our client facing document portals and internal research tools. For our work with the European regulatory body, you will ensure that every memorandum is archived in a secure, accessible, and perfectly formatted digital format. Because JHC Consulting does not produce slide decks, the quality of our digital presence relies entirely on the legibility and structure of our text based work. You will spend your time on the following tasks:

• Developing and refining front end templates that prioritize high quality typography and reading experiences.
• Maintaining and updating the back end systems that store our private advisory records.
• Building internal tools to help principals organize large volumes of regulatory data and academic research.
• Ensuring the security and privacy of all digital documents through regular maintenance and updates.
• Translating complex document hierarchies into simple, intuitive web structures.
• Writing clear technical documentation for every system or tool you build.

We are looking for an entry level developer who possesses a disciplined mind and a respect for the written word. While we do not require extensive professional experience, we do require a foundational understanding of web development and a high standard for your own work. You should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Basic proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• A clear understanding of how to structure data and organize web content for longevity.
• A high level of written English and the ability to explain technical concepts without jargon.
• The ability to work independently and manage your own technical projects from start to finish.
• An interest in the intersection of technology and professional advisory work.
• A meticulous approach to testing and refining your code before it reaches a client.
• Comfort with remote collaboration tools and written asynchronous communication.
