Job description

We are seeking a Data Center Smart Hands Technician to provide onsite technical support for data center operations. This role involves hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, vendor escort, and asset management. The technician will work with remote engineering teams, customers, and vendors to ensure the reliable operation of critical infrastructure while adhering to established policies and procedures., * Install, rack, stack, cable, decommission, and replace servers, network, and storage equipment.

  • Manage structured cabling, patch panels, cable routing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot server and hardware issues under the direction of remote administrators.
  • Coordinate activities with customers, vendors, and the Data Center Operations team.
  • Provide support during standard hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM) and participate in a bi-weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Requirements

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in an enterprise or government data center environment is required.

Technical Skills: Candidates should have knowledge of structured cabling, patch panel management, and best practices for cable routing and documentation. Experience with troubleshooting servers and hardware is necessary. Strong communication and organizational skills are also required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ticketing and asset management systems such as ServiceNow or similar IT service management platforms.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting infrastructure projects, including hardware refreshes, migrations, and deployments.
  • Knowledge of data center standards, power infrastructure, change management processes, and industry best practices for physical infrastructure operations.
