Job description
Responsible for administrative and technical planning for communication and security services provided by CMU. Duties include programming communication services, customer support, billing system maintenance, technical service requests, and special projects. The position provides increasing levels of responsibility based on Specialist I, II, or III classification., Specialist I:
- Assist customers with cellular services, billing, service transfers, and loaner phones.
- Generate service and technical support orders.
- Track requests using ITSM software.
- Maintain customer/billing information.
- Process basic VoIP adds, moves, and changes.
Specialist II:
- Program VoIP and cellular devices using Cisco Unified Communications Manager or related software.
- Program voicemail and train users on phone features.
- Analyze customer/vendor billing and assist with SAP reconciliation.
- Support access control and video management systems.
- Create and track service requests and troubleshoot issues.
- Manage access rights.
Requirements
Telecom Specialist I:
- High school diploma or GED and one year of professional experience.
- Microsoft Office and spreadsheet experience.
- Customer service experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- General knowledge of VoIP and telephone features.
Telecom Specialist II:
- All Specialist I qualifications.
- Three years of related telecommunications experience.
- Database experience and experience coordinating students/interns.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects.
- Thorough knowledge of VoIP and telephone features.
Sr. Telecom Specialist:
- All Specialist II qualifications.
- Five years of related telecommunications experience.
- Project management skills and ability to work independently.
- Advanced VoIP solution architecture experience.
- Extensive experience with voicemail trees, hunt pilots, call handlers, routing, and call management., High School Diploma/Equivalency
