Job description

We are looking for 2x skilled Design Engineers to design and develop innovative mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems.

You will play a key role in delivering compliant, high-quality solutions that meet technical, safety and client requirements, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.

The role involves:

  • Develop detailed designs for mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems using CAD and relevant software
  • Ensure designs meet functional, safety, regulatory, international fire safety standards, EN12101 and client requirements while aligning with client specifications
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and consultants to integrate ventilation systems seamlessly into building designs
  • Review CFD analysis to optimise system performance in fire scenarios
  • Produce technical documentation, specifications, installation guidelines, and product details
  • Provide technical support during early conception of the design, and throughout Design Pack creation
  • Research and implement new technologies and materials to enhance system performance

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in designing smoke ventilation or similar building services
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks)
  • Strong understanding of ventilation principles
  • A basic knowledge of building regulations, fire safety codes, and ventilation systems standards (e.g. EN 12101, BS 9999)
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and compliance
  • Innovative problem-solver with a proactive and adaptable approach
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience in high-rise residential, new-build developments or communal building systems
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows, * Proactive, adaptable, and resilient with a flexible approach to change
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex workloads
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client presentations, team collaboration, and able to build strong relationships with clients and teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Have the desire to learn and continually improve your knowledge
  • Coaches and mentors others to develop capability and confidence
  • Collaborative Team player who performs well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365 - Excel, Word and PowerPoint
