Job description

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced Functional Architect / VMware NSX Administrator to design, deploy, configure, and manage VMware NSX-T environments. The role will focus on virtualized network infrastructure, network security, micro-segmentation, logical routing/switching, load balancing, distributed firewalls, troubleshooting, automation, and data center modernization. The NSX Administrator will collaborate closely with network, server, security, and architecture teams to maintain a secure, stable, and high-performing VMware environment. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, configure, and administer VMware NSX-T enterprise environments. Manage logical routing, switching, load balancing, and distributed firewall policies. Implement and maintain micro-segmentation strategies and network security policies. Perform NSX component maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management. Monitor infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and logs. Troubleshoot complex issues involving network overlays, transport nodes, edge appliances, and physical network integrations. Work with network, server, security, and architecture teams on platform upgrades and deployments. Create and maintain network topology diagrams, SOPs, configuration records, and technical documentation. Develop automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency and disaster recovery readiness. Support incident response and provide escalation support for critical infrastructure issues. Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience administering VMware NSX-T in enterprise environments. Strong understanding of networking concepts including VLANs, BGP, OSPF, and VXLAN. Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related VMware technologies. Strong troubleshooting skills across networking and virtualization layers. Knowledge of network security and micro-segmentation. Experience with automation/scripting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, or REST APIs. Highly Desired Skills VCP-NV, VCAP-NV, or equivalent VMware NSX hands-on expertise. Cloud networking experience with AWS and/or Azure. Experience with monitoring tools such as VMware Aria Operations, vRealize Network Insight, SolarWinds, or Splunk.
