Spinwell is recruiting for a Technical Support Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFICER To be part of the maintenance and repairs team responsible for the responsive repairs functions for a portfolio of approximately 5,000 social housing units, including estate environs and liabilities to leaseholders. The role involves assisting with investigations and identification of defects and remedial works to council owned properties. The role will also oversee the progress of repairs projects being carried out by contractors.
Requirements
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT OFFICER
- Ability to prepare estimates, specifications and contracts (to deadlines).
- Be proactive and engaging in relationships with customers and Housing colleagues
- Ability to record and monitor any payments made to sub-contractors and apply Schedule of Rates to Sub-contractors work.
- Be able to produce spreadsheets, and maintain/update databases.
- Able and confident in the production and delivery of presentations to residents and other groups
- Be proactive and engaging in relationships with customers, contractors and other stakeholders
- Work to a performance management framework
- An ability and commitment to comply with the Council’s Equal Opportunities policy.
- Have extensive technical knowledge, experience and understanding of construction details and defects pathology in all types of domestic dwellings, including high-rise developments.
- A sound understanding of Health and Safety legislation and regulation including CDM 2015.
- A knowledge of Disrepair / EPA and/or Party Wall legislation /Section 20 consultation would be beneficial in this role.
- Relevant experience of working in a building maintenance role.
- Experience of working in a diverse environment including liaising with external and internal clients, but most importantly, residents.
- Experience of managing consultation and working with tenants and leaseholders.
- Have a building related qualification (to HND / HNC) or be ‘qualified by experience’ in a similar role
