Job description
An employer is seeking a Networking Software Engineer to join their team in Austin, TX. He or she will be joining a Video Conferencing organization to help support collaboration devices and their Android/Linux-based conferencing products. The Networking Software Engineering will be responsible with developing, enhancing and troubleshooting networking functionality on Android and Linux-based collaboration devices. He or she will work at the OS and platform level to implement and modify networking stack components, including TCP/IP, UDP, routing, DNS, DHCP, proxy services and network authentication mechanisms. On a daily basis, the Networking Software Engineer will be responsible for the below:
Design, implement, and support enterprise networking capabilities such as 802.1X authentication, EAP methods, network onboarding, and multi-network/subnet connectivity. Debug complex network connectivity issues using packet analysis, system logs, and network monitoring tools to identify root causes and drive resolutions. Collaborate with software, platform, and systems engineers to ensure reliable device communication across wired, wireless, and enterprise network environments. Create and maintain automated tests, unit tests, and validation frameworks for networking features using Google Test and Python. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and implementation planning for new networking features and enhancements. Support production issues, investigate networking defects, and contribute to continuous improvement of networking performance and stability.
Requirements
5+ years of experience developing software on Linux and/or Android platforms
Strong C/C++ development experience in Linux and/or Android environments
Deep understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, UDP, routing, DNS, and DHCP
Experience developing, modifying, or troubleshooting networking functionality at the operating system or platform level
Hands-on experience with 802.1X authentication and enterprise networking concepts
Experience creating automated tests using frameworks such as Google Test (gTest) and/or Python
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Android platform or Android systems development experience
Embedded Linux development experience
Experience with enterprise networking technologies such as proxies, VLANs, NAC, Wi-Fi authentication, or multi-subnet environments
Strong packet-level debugging experience using tools such as Wireshark
Experience developing networking features for IoT, conferencing, embedded, or hardware-based products
Benefits & conditions
This role is onsite 3-4 days a week in the Domain area of Austin, TX and the hourly pay ranges from $70-$75/hr depending on experience and feedback from the client., Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
