Learn more @ dol.ks.gov, The IT Support Analyst I provides first-level technical support to end users by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting computer hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment in a Microsoft Windows enterprise environment. This position serves as a primary point of contact for resolving technical issues, ensuring timely customer service, and maintaining accurate documentation of incidents and service requests. The IT Support Analyst I works closely with other Information Technology staff to support agency operations, maintain security standards, and ensure technology resources remain reliable and available.

  • Provide first-level technical support for desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and peripheral equipment. Respond to and resolve help desk tickets, phone calls, emails, and walk-up support requests within established service level expectations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Windows operating systems and standard desktop software. Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, web browsers, VPN connections, and other agency-approved software.
  • Perform workstation setup, deployment, relocation, and retirement activities. Create, modify, and disable user accounts and permissions following established security procedures. Assist with password resets, multi-factor authentication, and user access issues.
  • Install software updates, security patches, and firmware updates as directed. Troubleshoot network connectivity, printing, hardware, and software issues. Maintain accurate documentation within the IT service management system, including problem resolution and asset information. Follow agency cybersecurity policies and report suspected security incidents. Develop and maintain technical documentation and user instructions.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior technical staff when appropriate. Assist with inventory management of computer equipment and technology assets. Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including equipment preparation and account provisioning.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience in information technology, or related IT disciplines. Experience evaluating business needs, recommending technology solutions, supporting system implementations. Experience providing technical consultation, troubleshooting complex issues, and participating in IT projects from planning through implementation is preferred., * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Microsoft Certified Fundamentals certifications

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Training in information technology consulting, systems analysis, business analysis, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, networking, or software implementation. Continuing education in emerging technologies and IT best practices is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications. Basic understanding of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and user account administration. Basic knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and wireless connectivity. Familiarity with desktop imaging and device deployment processes. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing business needs.
