Job description
Our client is looking for x2 Junior IT Techniciansto join their IT Services team and begin a career in technology support.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in IT to gain hands-on experience while completing a recognised apprenticeship. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you will develop practical technical skills while supporting the delivery of day-to-day IT services across schools within the Trust.
The role provides a structured pathway into IT support, allowing you to build experience in hardware, software, Microsoft 365, device deployment, user support, and IT infrastructure., * Assist with first-line IT support tasks, logging incidents and service requests through the helpdesk system
- Support the setup, preparation, and configuration of desktops, laptops, tablets, and peripheral devices
- Assist with the deployment of Windows devices and develop an understanding of MECM and Intune/Autopilot processes
- Help maintain and support the Trust’s printer fleet, including basic troubleshooting and consumable replacements
- Support staff with Microsoft 365 queries, including Teams, Outlook, and OneDrive
- Assist with maintaining accurate IT asset records and equipment tracking
- Support the setup and maintenance of classroom and hall audio-visual equipment
- Work alongside experienced IT Technicians to gain exposure to networking, infrastructure, and systems administration
- Contribute to routine IT housekeeping tasks, including cable management, equipment storage, and workspace organisation
- Adhere to IT policies, GDPR requirements, and data security procedures
- Participate fully in apprenticeship training, assessments, and off-the-job learning
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple school sites
- Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role
Requirements
Essential
- Genuine interest in IT and technology
- Desire to build a career in IT support
- Basic familiarity with Windows operating systems
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365 applications
- Strong communication skills with a professional and helpful approach
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent
- GCSE ICT or Computer Science at Grade 6 (B) or above, or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle (for position #2 in particular)
Desirable
- Previous experience providing IT support through work experience, volunteering, education, or personal projects
- Awareness of networking fundamentals and computer hardware
