Job description

As a Test Engineer supporting our Service Business, you will receive and evaluate transformer oil and electrical test data, compile technical reports, and support testing activities for power system assets. You will work across engineering, field service, and technical support functions to review test results, provide guidance on transformer oil testing, support field crews across U.S. time zones, and develop test scopes for proposal activities. This role contributes to the assessment, testing, and performance of critical power infrastructure while supporting service execution and asset reliability initiatives.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Receive and compile transformer oil and electrical test data into report templates.
  • Support transformer testing including winding resistance, turns ratio, excitation, power factor, and SFRA testing.
  • Archive test reports and test data to company servers.
  • Provide technical support to field crews across U.S. time zones.
  • Review transformer oil test results and provide guidance based on findings.
  • Create test scopes in support of proposal activities.
  • Apply safety and integrity values in daily work activities.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines., You will gain exposure to service engineering, field operations, and technical support activities while collaborating with teams that support power system assets.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Associate degree in engineering or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred. Alternatively, a combination of education and five or more years of transformer experience may be considered.
  • Two or more years of experience in transformer testing, diagnostics, reporting, or related engineering activities.
  • Experience compiling transformer oil and electrical test data, preparing technical reports, and maintaining test documentation.
  • Experience supporting transformer testing activities, including winding resistance, turns ratio, excitation, power factor, and SFRA testing.
  • Knowledge of transformer oil testing, interpretation of test results, and industry standards including IEEE, IEC, and NEMA.
