Job description

We’re expanding our Baton Rouge branch and looking for an experienced Tier 2 technician who can both handle escalated technical issues and mentor our Tier 1 team. You’ll report directly to the branch lead and have real input into how the office runs.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide onsite and remote Tier 2 technical support for small business clients across a wide range of hardware, software, networking, and cloud environments
  • Handle tickets escalated from Tier 1 technicians, and provide hands-on mentoring and guidance to help them grow
  • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot servers, PCs, printers, peripherals, and network equipment
  • Manage and support Active Directory, Hyper-V, DHCP, DNS, and VMware environments
  • Install, configure, and manage firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless access points
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments
  • Communicate directly with vendors to open, update, and resolve support tickets
  • Document all work clearly and consistently so the whole team can pick up where you left off
  • Participate in a light on-call rotation (less than one weekend per month), monitoring the support mailbox for client outages or offline servers and relaying issues to the on-duty Tier 2 technician for next-morning resolution

Requirements

  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • 6+ years of hands-on IT experience, including 2-3+ years working for an MSP
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS
  • Experience with business networking equipment: firewalls, switches, VPNs, wireless access points
  • Comfortable troubleshooting directly with clients - in person, on the phone, and over email
  • Strong documentation habits and the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading junior technicians
  • Experience supporting professional service clients (medical, dental, or law offices)
  • Additional certifications (Network+, Security+, Microsoft, etc.)
