Job description

The Swiss Machinist / Programmer is responsible for the full lifecycle production of precision components using Tsugami Swiss-type CNC machines. This is a hands-on role that includes complete machine setup, program development, and production execution.

This individual will work from engineering prints to program, set up, and run machines, ensuring high-quality, tight-tolerance parts are delivered efficiently and on schedule. The role partners closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to drive first-pass success and continuous improvement in an AS9100 and ITAR-regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform complete setup of Tsugami Swiss machines from start to finish including tooling, offsets, guide bushing, and bar feeder setup

Write, edit, and prove out CNC programs directly from engineering prints with multi-channel synchronization

Operate Swiss-type lathes, ensuring efficient production and adherence to quality standards

Set up and optimize programs involving sub-spindle operations, live tooling, and back-working processes

Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements for small precision components

Troubleshoot machining issues related to dimensional accuracy, surface finish, tool wear, and cycle time

Collaborate with Manufacturing Manager, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure successful program launches and continuous improvement

Maintain compliance with AS9100, ITAR, and internal quality standards

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on experience operating, setting up, and programming Swiss-type CNC machines, preferably Tsugami

Strong experience with G-code programming and editing

Proven ability to independently complete full machine setups and program development

Experience with multi-channel Swiss machining including spindle synchronization

Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T

Ability to troubleshoot machining processes and drive production efficiency improvements

Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills Experience with other Swiss platforms such as Citizen, Star, Tornos, or Hanwha

Familiarity with CAM software such as PartMaker, Esprit, GibbsCAM Swiss, or Mastercam Swiss Expert

Technical or trade school training in CNC machining

Experience working in aerospace, medical, or other regulated manufacturing environments

Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and bore gauges
