Job description
The System Analyst 5 at MDOS is responsible for gathering, documenting, and managing clear, testable business requirements to support software development projects. This role serves as ScrumMaster on campaign finance related projects, facilitating Agile processes and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders. The position requires hybrid work with mandatory onsite presence two days per week in Lansing, Michigan, and focuses on ensuring smooth transitions from project mode to maintenance mode through mentoring and process documentation. Responsibilities:
- Document clear, unambiguous, and testable business requirements following DTMB and MDOS standards.
- Create and maintain test plans with business areas to ensure repeatable processes beyond project lifecycles.
- Develop technical documentation for repeatable steps and maintenance planning.
- Facilitate requirement gathering meetings with project teams and stakeholders.
- Manage project backlog and prioritize tasks during Agile projects in collaboration with the product owner.
- Monitor adherence to project scope and requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure inclusion of stakeholders regarding data governance and requirements.
- Resolve critical IT issues related to the business analyst role.
- Complete and review SEM deliverables aligned with area processes.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers, solution architects, DBAs, developers, QA testers, and vendor partners to ensure understanding of requirements and solution scalability.
- Serve as a mentor to promote Agile mindset and support long-term business success and transition., * Hybrid work schedule requiring onsite presence every Tuesday and Wednesday without exceptions.
- Candidate must have valid Right to Represent and submit required documentation including cover sheet and resume with full legal first and last name only.

- Candidate must be prepared to answer detailed technical questions about Agile tools and process workflows.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Business Analyst experience.
- Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance experience.
- Minimum 5 years of Agile tool experience, including creating epics, features, user stories, and managing project lifecycle boards (e.g., JIRA, Monday.com).
- Minimum 5 years experience with as-is/to-be process analysis and documentation.
- Minimum 3 years experience using business analyst tools such as FIGMA and Visio.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and Agile frameworks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must reside within one hour of Lansing, Michigan at time of application.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience creating product roadmaps.
- Familiarity with system engineering methodology (SEM) deliverables.
- Experience mentoring or teaching to foster Agile adoption.
Benefits & conditions
Scheduling:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid schedule with mandatory onsite days: Tuesday and Wednesday each week.
- Position duration: 1 year with possible extension.
