Job description

Kearney & Company is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to join our growing firm! This role will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing a highly customized ServiceNow environment, including multiple custom applications.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Independently assess and understand the client’s existing ServiceNow platform, including custom applications, data models, workflows, business logic, integrations, security configurations, and existing customizations.
  • Analyze existing custom applications to understand how they were designed and implemented, identify dependencies, and determine the appropriate approach for enhancements or modifications.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders to understand business needs, clarify requirements, and translate those needs into effective technical solutions within ServiceNow.
  • Design, develop, configure, and implement enhancements to custom ServiceNow applications and platform functionality based on evolving client requirements.
  • Recommend technical approaches that balance immediate business needs with ServiceNow development best practices, maintainability, scalability, security, and upgradeability.
  • Develop and modify ServiceNow components including custom tables and data models, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, ACLs, Flow Designer flows, notifications, forms, and related application functionality.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across custom applications and platform functionality, perform root-cause analysis, and implement solutions with limited oversight.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems, as needed.
  • Test and validate application and platform changes, assess potential downstream impacts, and support deployment across development, test, and production environments.
  • Maintain technical documentation for custom applications, configurations, integrations, dependencies, and implemented solutions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing custom applications, simplify configurations, reduce technical debt, and improve overall platform performance and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with client and project team members while independently managing assigned development activities from requirements analysis through design, development, testing, and implementation.

Requirements

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience, including development and support of custom applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience assessing and modifying existing custom ServiceNow applications, including understanding unfamiliar data models, business logic, workflows, security configurations, and integrations.
  • Strong experience with server-side and client-side ServiceNow development using JavaScript.
  • Experience designing and modifying custom tables, relationships, forms, business rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, ACLs, and Flow Designer/workflow functionality.
  • Ability to independently analyze an existing ServiceNow implementation, determine how custom functionality has been designed, and safely implement enhancements or changes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Agency Suitability clearance (requires US Citizenship), * ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.
  • Experience with App Engine and ServiceNow’s application development capabilities. ServiceNow specifically positions App Engine for building and extending custom workflow applications on the Now Platform.
  • Experience inheriting and supporting ServiceNow environments with significant customization or technical debt.
  • Experience developing or maintaining custom integrations with external systems.
  • Experience in a consulting environment and/or supporting federal clients.

  • Experience with additional programming and scripting languages, particularly Python, for data processing, automation, system integration, or other technical solutions outside of the ServiceNow platform.

  • Experience developing scripts or automation to support data extraction, transformation, validation, analysis, or system-to-system data exchange.

  • Familiarity with technologies such as SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting/programming languages that can complement ServiceNow development and support broader client technology needs.
