Job description

SLAHR is hiring a Field Service Support (FSS) Technician to support Wynndalco Enterprises with on-site technology service for NYC Department of Education schools.

This is a hands-on field service position for someone with experience troubleshooting and repairing computers, Chromebooks, printers, and other technology equipment. Technicians will travel between school sites throughout the Bronx and work from assigned service tickets.

This is a mobile position. Employees will travel daily between multiple school sites and the NYC office/warehouse.

Important Pre-Employment Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening before beginning the assignment, including:

  • Background check
  • Drug screening
  • Any additional screening required for access to NYC Department of Education locations

What You’ll Do

  • Travel to NYC DOE schools throughout the Bronx to complete assigned service tickets
  • Diagnose and repair laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, and classroom technology
  • Assist with device deployments, replacements, setups, moves, and reconnections
  • Pick up failed or end-of-life equipment and transport it to the NYC warehouse
  • Maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation for equipment
  • Document completed work accurately and the same day
  • Identify and document work that falls outside the assigned scope
  • Communicate professionally with teachers, school administrators, and IT staff
  • Maintain organized tools, parts, and equipment, Wynndalco does not hire candidates directly into these positions. Candidates will have the opportunity to demonstrate their technical skills, reliability, and work performance while assigned to the Wynndalco team. Future internal opportunities may be available based on performance and business needs.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of hands-on hardware repair or IT deployment experience
  • Experience troubleshooting laptops, desktops, Chromebooks, or printers
  • Working knowledge of Windows and ChromeOS
  • Basic familiarity with macOS/iPadOS
  • Basic networking knowledge, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and IP connectivity
  • Experience working with ticketing systems
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel between school sites throughout the Bronx daily
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Professional communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to successfully complete required background and drug screening

Preferred Experience

  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification
  • K-12 or school technology experience
  • OEM repair experience with Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, or Apple
  • Previous field service or help desk experience, * Hands-on field service experience
  • Work with computers, Chromebooks, printers, and classroom technology
