Job description
If you’re the Linux professional everyone turns to when systems break - and you happen to have strong VoIP/SIP experience - this could be a great opportunity.
I’m partnered with a technically elite organization looking for a strong Linux Systems Administrator or Engineer to support complex, production Linux environments that power telecom and real-time voice infrastructure.
You don’t need to come from a traditional telecom engineering background. If you’re an excellent Linux professional who has worked with VoIP, SIP, networking, and production systems, we’d absolutely like to talk.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting difficult technical problems, working from the command line, digging through logs and packet captures, and seeing issues through to resolution.
What You’ll Own:
- Deep troubleshooting across production Linux environments, primarily Red Hat
- Diagnose and resolve VoIP and SIP issues in live production environments
- Analyze logs and troubleshoot system, application, and infrastructure issues
- Perform packet-level analysis using Wireshark
- Investigate networking and connectivity issues across Linux-based systems
- Write MOPs for production changes, upgrades, and maintenance
- Support maintenance windows, patching, upgrades, and infrastructure updates
- Work directly with engineering and development teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
Requirements
- 5+ years of strong Linux systems administration or engineering experience
- Recent, hands-on experience supporting Linux in production environments
- Experience with VoIP and SIP - strong SIP troubleshooting is highly preferred
- Solid networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, routing, and related protocols
- Ability to analyze packet captures and network traces using Wireshark
- Strong command-line troubleshooting and log analysis skills
- Experience supporting high-availability or 24/7 environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering teams
Bonus Points For:
- Bash, Python, Ansible, or other Linux automation/scripting
- VMware vSphere
- Basic Cisco IOS knowledge
- Diameter protocol
- Asterisk, IMS, SBCs, or other telecom/voice infrastructure
- Experience supporting telecom-grade or carrier-class environments
