Job description

A growing technology organization is seeking an experienced Linux Telecom Support Engineer to support production platforms and work directly with customer engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues., This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming from a telecommunications environment with strong experience supporting Linux/RHEL production systems, troubleshooting applications and networks, and working with SIP-based platforms., If you enjoy digging into logs, traces, packet captures, and production issues to determine what’s actually happening - and then working directly with customers and development teams to get the problem resolved - this could be a strong opportunity.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience supporting Linux-based systems \n

  • Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or another Linux distribution \n

  • Experience troubleshooting production environments \n

  • Strong knowledge of networking \n

  • Strong understanding of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) \n

  • Ability to troubleshoot application, network, and operating system issues on Linux servers \n

  • Experience gathering and analyzing logs and traces using the Linux command line \n

  • Ability to analyze Wireshark traces/packet captures \n

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills \n

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills \n

  • Comfortable working directly with customer engineering and technical teams \n

  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office/productivity tools \n, The ideal candidate will have a combination of Linux systems expertise and telecommunications experience. You don’t necessarily need to have “Linux” in your job title - candidates from telecom organizations who have supported Linux-based production platforms, SIP environments, or telecom applications are encouraged to apply.

  • Troubleshoot day-to-day issues reported on production platforms \n

  • Diagnose and resolve Linux operating system, application, and network-related issues \n

  • Apply fixes, patches, and updates to production platforms \n

  • Write detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for production changes \n

  • Participate in maintenance windows for system upgrades and patching \n

  • Work directly with customer engineering teams to resolve operational issues \n

  • Participate in recurring technical meetings with customers to review open issues \n

  • Discuss technical requirements, enhancements, and change requests with customer engineering teams \n

  • Identify and report software bugs to development teams \n

  • Gather and analyze logs, traces, and other technical information from production systems \n

  • Analyze system behavior and provide development teams with the information needed to troubleshoot and resolve issues \n

  • Use packet captures and Wireshark to investigate network and SIP-related issues \n
