Job description

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will serve as a subject matter expert for Rush Enterprises’ enterprise identity, cloud administration, and systems infrastructure. You will administer Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Microsoft 365 administration. You will mentor other Systems Engineers, serve as an escalation point for complex identity and infrastructure incidents., Other duties beyond this representative listing may be assigned to the essential job duties and responsibilities of this position based on Company needs.

  • Administer and maintain Active Directory, including Group Policy Objects (GPO) and Organizational Unit (OU) structure, ensuring consistent design and documentation across the environment.
  • Own day-to-day administration of Azure AD/Entra ID, including conditional access, single sign-on (SSO), Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and multi-factor authentication (MFA) configuration.
  • Administer Identity and Access Management (IAM) capabilities including Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Administer Microsoft 365, including licensing, tenant configuration, and platform administration across the organization.
  • Provide senior-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex systems, identity, and access incidents, escalating only the most unusual issues.
  • Design, document, and maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures for identity and systems administration functions.
  • Partner with the security team to implement and enforce identity governance, access control, and compliance requirements.
  • Mentor and cross-train Systems Engineers and Associate-level staff to build depth across identity, Azure, and M365 capabilities and reduce concentration risk on any one person.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of systems and identity-related changes, upgrades, and migrations following change management processes.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for identity and core systems infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance windows.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5-8 years of progressive experience in systems administration, with demonstrated depth in Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Additional experience and/or technical training may be considered in lieu of formal education. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, AZ-104/AZ-500) are strongly preferred.
  • Technology: Advanced knowledge of Active Directory (GPO, OU design), Azure AD/Entra ID, and IAM disciplines including PAM, RBAC, SSO, PIM, and MFA. Strong Microsoft 365 administration and licensing experience. PowerShell or equivalent scripting for administration and automation preferred.
