Job description

We are looking for a Field IT Support Specialist to provide hands on technical support for clients across the Atlanta metro area. This role combines traditional IT support with field service work, including troubleshooting devices, installing networking equipment, and resolving technology issues both remotely and onsite., * Travel across the Atlanta metro area providing responsive IT support for clients, troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues in office and remote working environments.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality when working with client systems, devices, and sensitive information.
  • Track projects and document support activities using internal documentation systems.
  • Communicate effectively with users at all levels, from executives to entry-level staff building trust, demonstrating urgency, and providing practical solutions in easy to understand terms within our high quality support experience.
  • Collaborate with the Bitsmith team to document and troubleshoot complex issues, escalating or handing off as appropriate, and owning the process on behalf of the client to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist clients with device setup including configuring laptops, installing MDM tools, and integrating mobile devices with business tools such as email, calendars, and collaboration platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across both Mac and Windows environments including laptops, desktops, and related peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot networking equipment including routers, switches, and wireless access points from brands such as Meraki, Ubiquiti, and other major manufacturers.
  • Troubleshoot and terminate Ethernet cabling when required to support reliable network infrastructure.
  • Work directly with clients to prepare conference technology for important client meetings or business activities.

Requirements

The ideal candidate enjoys solving real world technology problems, working directly with clients, and supporting a variety of working environments. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of professionalism., * 2+ years of IT support experience in a professional or academic environment.

  • Experience troubleshooting both Mac and Windows systems including laptops, desktops, and common business applications.
  • Experience installing or supporting network connections and equipment such as routers, switches, or wireless access points.
  • Comfortable performing onsite technical work including troubleshooting, equipment installation, and meeting with clients. Limited use of a ladder and lifting of equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and maintaining a professional presence in business environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel throughout the Atlanta metro area., * Experience supporting business IT environments.
  • Familiarity with network configuration and troubleshooting in real world environments.
  • Experience installing or supporting Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti, or similar networking systems.
  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar.
  • Experience working directly with executives or leadership teams.

Benefits & conditions

Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 annually depending on experience.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role supporting clients across the Atlanta metro area.

Most days involve visiting multiple client locations to troubleshoot issues, install networking equipment, or complete system setup. While most work takes place in the field, occasional work may be performed remotely or from the Atlanta office when appropriate.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday during standard business hours, usually around 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility depending on client needs., * Paid time off
