Job description
- We are seeking an experienced Senior IT/Technology Project Manager - GIS to lead a complex, large-scale enterprise GIS Utility Network implementation and modernization project. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing GIS technology projects, enterprise software implementations, upgrades, or conversions using a Waterfall SDLC methodology.
- The project involves migrating existing electric and gas geospatial data/models from legacy geometric networks to an ArcGIS Utility Network model. The PM will work closely with GIS teams, IT, business stakeholders, architects, vendors, system integrators, and implementation partners., * Lead large-scale GIS and enterprise technology projects from initiation through implementation and project closeout.
- Manage GIS software implementation, modernization, migration, and conversion projects.
- Coordinate the migration of geospatial data/models to modern GIS platforms and Utility Network environments.
- Work closely with GIS teams, architects, IT system owners, business users, vendors, and implementation partners.
- Develop and maintain integrated, resource-loaded project plans including tasks, dependencies, milestones, critical path, baseline and forecast dates.
- Drive project execution, remove obstacles, establish accountability, and ensure delivery against committed outcomes.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, escalations, scope, schedule, resources, and budget.
- Manage third-party GIS vendors, consulting partners, system integrators, and contract resources.
- Coordinate project design, implementation, testing, cutover, operational readiness, and transition activities.
- Support business case development, project governance, stage-gate reviews, and executive reporting.
- Translate complex GIS and technical concepts into clear business decisions and executive communications.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of IT/Technology Project Management experience; 10+ years preferred.
- Proven experience managing GIS technology projects from initiation through implementation and closeout.
- Experience with GIS software implementation, migration, modernization, upgrade, or conversion projects.
- Hands-on project management experience with ArcGIS and/or Esri GIS environments.
- Experience with ArcGIS Utility Network is highly preferred.
- Experience managing large, complex, enterprise-wide technology projects involving multiple IT teams and business stakeholders.
- Strong experience managing vendors, system integrators, consulting partners, and third-party resources.
- Experience working with Waterfall SDLC, stage-gate reviews, structured project governance, risk management, and executive reporting.
- Experience managing technical dependencies, data migration, testing, cutover, and operational readiness.

Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with electric and/or gas utility GIS systems is strongly preferred.
- Experience with legacy geometric networks and migration to Utility Network is a strong plus.
- Utility industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with GIS professionals, architects, IT teams, field users, business stakeholders, vendors, and executives.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to understand complex GIS and enterprise technology environments.
- Ability to independently drive projects with minimal oversight and maintain accountability for measurable outcomes.
