Job description
Manages the Patient Safety Evaluation System to ensure compliance with the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act and other relevant regulations. Oversees the day-to-day operations of Risk Master event reporting, ensuring accurate and timely entry of events. Creates and analyzes reports in Risk Master, including annual, quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc event and liability claim reports for administration, regulatory agencies, and legal counsel. Develops and implements policies and procedures related to patient safety activities within the Patient Safety Evaluation System. Provides administrative oversight and training related to the operation and management of the Patient Safety Evaluation System. Interacts with contracted Patient Safety Organizations to define and monitor patient safety activities. Manages data management plans, including processes related to permissible disclosure, reclassification, and removal of patient safety work product. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the Patient Safety Evaluation System and consults with component owners to improve patient safety activities. Responds to potential security and confidentiality breaches of patient safety work product. Ensures retention of all Patient Safety Evaluation System documentation in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, accreditation bodies, and organizational policies. Provides consultation related to the development and implementation of the Patient Safety Organization. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Broad knowledge base of federal legislation, state statues, and case law relevant to risk management, claims management and healthcare law is required.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (PSQI) Act of 2005 is required.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate laws and regulations into current organizational processes and to effectively embed patient safety activities into exiting and appropriate policy and procedures is required.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s [Required]
Field of Study:
- in health related or business field is required.
Work Experience:
- 3+ of risk and claims management experience [Preferred]
