Job description
The Database Manager is responsible for the overall administration, integrity, governance, and strategic utilization of the Blanton Museum of Art’s Tessitura CRM. This position serves as the museum’s primary Tessitura administrator and data steward, ensuring that constituent, membership, ticketing, fundraising, marketing, and financial data are accurate, secure, and effectively managed across the organization. Working collaboratively with departments including Marketing and Communications, Visitor and Volunteer Services, Membership, Finance and central UT, the Database Manager develops and maintains data standards, oversees system configuration, manages integrations, supports reporting and analytics, and provides training to staff. This position plays a critical role in supporting audience development, fundraising, visitor engagement, and institutional decision-making through high-quality data management and governance., Data Governance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain museum-wide data governance policies and procedures.
- Establish standards for data entry, constituent records, coding structures, duplicate management, and record maintenance.
- Monitor and improve data quality through ongoing audits, cleanup initiatives, and validation processes.
- Develop policies to ensure consistent use of constituent data across departments.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, privacy regulations, PCI standards, and industry best practices.
Reporting and Analytics:
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and queries to support leadership and departmental decision-making.
- Produce recurring reports related to attendance, membership, fundraising, marketing, admissions, retail, and visitor engagement.
- Support Marketing with segmentation, audience targeting, campaign reporting, and customer journey development.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning through data analysis.
- Identify trends and opportunities using constituent and transactional data.
- Work closely with Finance to reconcile transactional data and reporting.
System Integrations:
- Manage integrations between Tessitura and third-party platforms including email marketing, digital advertising, e-commerce, payment processors, analytics platforms, accounting systems, and other museum technologies.
- Collaborate with Visitor and Volunteer Services on admissions, memberships, group sales, and customer service workflows.
- Monitor integration health and troubleshoot issues with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Support implementation of new technologies that connect with Tessitura.
User Support and Training:
- Develop documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
- Train new and existing staff on Tessitura functionality and data standards.
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshoot user issues.
- Promote adoption of best practices across all departments.
Other related functions as assigned., The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length., Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). If this position is identified a Campus Security Authority (Clery Act), you will be notified and provided resources for reporting. Responsible employees under Title IX are defined and outlined in HOP-3031.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, data analytics or related field.
- At least three years of experience working with an enterprise database system, including customer support, technical or applications support, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Advanced proficiency in in CRM systems, Tessitura experience preferred.
- Familiarity with database security standards and best practices in SQL database management.
- Detail oriented with strong problem-solving and project management skills.
- Proficient with SQL, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate., * Master’s degree in information technology, data analytics, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience working with Tessitura.
