Job description

The Applications Systems Specialist II serves as a senior-level application systems specialist responsible for independently designing, developing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise and cloud-based applications, primarily within the ServiceNow platform. Requirements

The ServiceNow Customer Workflows section within Business Services meets with NCDOT clients and establishes strategic business requirements needed to create ServiceNow scoped applications. These scoped applications are developed and used to streamline and improve business processes and workflows for over 10 million North Carolina constituents. Specific applications include ServiceNow Customer Service Management (CSM) under Public Services Digital Services (PSDS), and multiple custom-built applications. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of enterprise and cloud-based application development frameworks, scripting languages, and secure coding practices

  • Thorough knowledge of ServiceNow application architecture, Customer Workflows, and integration technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business requirements and design scalable application solutions

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of progressive experience in business application, business intelligence, or enterprise application consulting or development OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years of progressive experience in business application consulting or development OR High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and ten years of experience in business application, business intelligence, or enterprise application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Description of Work Salary Range: $91,600 - $160,299 The position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Any telework will be under the conditions of the state Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time in the employer’s sole discretion.
