Job description

Our Client is currently hiring a Senior Network Programmer to join their development team, either in Dundee, East Linton or Edinburgh. As a Network Programmer, you will have the opportunity to improve their multiplayer experience and ensure that their development team has the tools it needs to be successful. To do this, you will develop and maintain custom libraries that facilitate multiplayer features in-game and work in conjunction with the other disciplines to recognize requirements and align expectations.

What you will do:

  • Create technical design for, and implement, features of their proprietary engine focusing on networking functionality.
  • Support the Lead Software Developer in maintaining standards within a project to ensure that the project continues to be maintainable.
  • Work with team members from other disciplines to define and implement features.
  • Mentor more junior members of the team to support their development.
  • Continue to expand knowledge across all areas of the development to support the current project and propose ideas for future projects.

Requirements

  • Around 6 years of experience as a programmer within the games industry and using C++.
  • Experience working in a large and robust code base, working independantly and within the wider team.
  • Technical expertise in network programming for games - you will be experienced in implementing the synchronisation and optimisation of real time game data.
