Job description

We are hiring an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling and equipment in critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire opportunity provides hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities for career growth in the telecommunications and low-voltage industry. The technician will support infrastructure projects involving fiber installation, cable management, equipment installation, rack buildouts, and material handling while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This position requires reliability, punctuality, a strong work ethic, and the ability to perform physically demanding work while following established safety procedures., * Install and rough in structured cabling and fiber infrastructure.

  • Dress, route, label, and manage cables according to project requirements.
  • Perform cable and fiber terminations.
  • Rack and stack servers and other equipment.
  • Build out server racks according to rack elevations and project specifications.
  • Install fiber trays, ladder racks, power trays, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
  • Support Outside Plant (OSP) installations, including routing fiber into data center facilities.
  • Receive materials and assemble required hardware and equipment.
  • Read and follow blueprints, installation drawings, and project specifications.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and management while following written and verbal instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE requirements and OSHA guidelines., * Schedule requires availability to work 5-6 days per week with 10-12 hour shifts.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of the position.
  • Position involves physically demanding work and requires adherence to all PPE and workplace safety requirements.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of Data Center Technician, structured cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, construction, or related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Ability to perform construction-oriented and labor-intensive work in a data center environment.
  • Ability to work safely on ladders and scissor lifts and perform work at heights.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and remain physically active throughout the shift.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including appropriate work boots and gloves.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and installation documentation.
  • Basic hand tools required, including a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, and tool pouch.
