Job description
A growing software business is looking for a collaborative, hands-on Senior Software Developer to join its established development team.
This is a great opportunity to work across a portfolio of digital products, including platforms within the contracts, project management and document management space. With a strong delivery pipeline and several products in development, you’ll be involved in a varied mix of greenfield and existing-product work.
You’ll join a close-knit development function within a successful SME, working alongside developers, testers and senior stakeholders. While this is not a formal people-management role, you will have the opportunity to provide technical guidance, share knowledge and help shape development best practice.
The role
- Build and enhance full-stack software products across a varied product portfolio
- Work across the full development lifecycle, including coding, code reviews, testing, releases and cloud delivery
- Contribute to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, ticket refinement and technical discussions
- Help break down larger features and balance delivery priorities with technical debt
- Support and mentor other developers through knowledge sharing, reviews and best practice
- Collaborate closely with QA to develop and improve manual and automated testing practices
- Engage with stakeholders to understand product requirements and business priorities
- Explore and use AI-enabled development tools responsibly to improve ways of working
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience as a full-stack software developer
- Proven experience with .NET, ideally modern versions
- Front-end development experience with Angular; candidates with strong React or transferable front-end skills will also be considered
- Experience with Entity Framework or comparable back-end/data-access technologies
- Azure experience is desirable, although AWS or Google Cloud exposure is also relevant
- Good understanding of cloud development, DevOps, testing and release processes
- Previous experience of mentoring, technical leadership, code reviews, planning or technical-debt management
- A genuine interest in AI tools and their responsible use in software development
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
About you
You’ll be a technically strong developer who is also approachable, pragmatic and team-focused. You’ll enjoy sharing ideas and knowledge, taking ownership of your work and contributing to a positive engineering culture.
The business is looking for someone who is curious, accountable and keen to keep learning - someone who understands that great software is built through strong collaboration as well as technical ability.
Benefits & conditions
- Salary up to £65,000, depending on experience
- Annual discretionary bonus
- Private medical cover
- Pension contributions matched up to 4%
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service
- Additional day off over the Christmas period
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Annual training budget and access to professional learning resources
- Hybrid working, with regular team collaboration in a Leeds office
