Job description

Role summary: Distinguished, Technical Program Manager leads complex, large-scale programs by defining goals, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving clarity amid ambiguity. This role oversees end-to-end technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and system design principles. The position requires expertise in program planning, stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and process improvement to deliver measurable outcomes. The manager mentors teams, fosters effective communication, and implements scalable workflows to accelerate delivery. This role is critical in advancing technology initiatives while optimizing resources and maintaining high standards of quality and operational excellence. About the team: The Marketplace Tech team at Walmart designs scalable, innovative solutions supporting a vast retail ecosystem. This multidisciplinary group of engineers, architects, and product leaders collaborates to build robust platforms for fulfillment, logistics, and seller experience. Their work spans global supply chain integration, marketplace growth, and customer-focused delivery and returns solutions. Leveraging advanced technology, data insights, and domain expertise, the team ensures Walmart Marketplace remains agile, reliable, and prepared to expand across new business models and markets, driving operational excellence and sustained growth. What you’ll do:

  • Define and manage goals, stage gates, and key deliverables for large-scale, multi-program initiatives with complex dependencies and resource constraints.
  • Lead end-to-end technical program planning, ensuring alignment of strategy, architecture, and delivery across cross-functional teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying synergies, eliminating redundancies, and implementing scalable workflows and automation.
  • Oversee system design decisions, proactively addressing limitations and ensuring quality outcomes for new and legacy technology solutions.
  • Manage risks, resolve conflicts, and secure stakeholder alignment through clear communication and data-driven insights.
  • Mentor team members on best practices in program management, technical design, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in program management, including planning, risk mitigation, and resource alignment for large-scale, complex initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage dependencies across multiple workstreams and timelines.
  • Strong technical expertise in system and software design, cloud infrastructure, and platform architecture.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, securing buy-in, and driving consensus among varied groups.
  • Proficient in process improvement, automation, and implementing scalable workflows to enhance team efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights and influence decision-making.
